How hard can it be, I hear you ask. Setting up a home gym doesn’t need to be hard, but you do need to be smart about it.
The most effective equipment for the best possible price may seem straight forward enough, but here a few things to consider:
- Weight- Freestanding units are extremely heavy. Be sure to check your floor type can bear the extra weight.
- Height-some pulley systems are quite high, so if you are using a room in your home, check for clearance issues.
- Width- check how wide range of movement will be. Hitting a wall with feet or hands is not what you want.
- Flooring- a cement slab in a garage is fine. But make sure if you drop a weight it isn’t going to go through your apartment or upstairs floor and kill Bob below watching TV from the comfort of his armchair.
- Safety- Home gyms are fun for adults, do be sure children cannot access the room, or you can fold and put equipment away. In fact anyone who gets curious can easily injure themselves if they haven’t used the equipment before.
- Correct assembly- know that the home gym will not turn up at your door ready to go. Normally assembly will be required and getting this wrong could not only void warranty, but it puts the user at risk.
Be prepared and your home gym won’t present any annoying surprises.

You probably have noticed Earth Day on your April calendar and you may have wondered what, exactly, is
it?
Earth Day came about after six years of effort from then Senator Gaylord Nelson, who, back in the 1960s,
had the foresight to look at the long term impact of pollution on the environment. He was instrumental in
getting his message out to college students, who took this issue on with concern and enthusiasm for this
project. Earth Day became a National Awareness day on January 20, 1970, with the date set for celebration as
April 22 of every year. In 2007, it is estimated that one billion people recognized Earth Day in some way.
Internationally, Earth Day is celebrated at different times, in approximately 175 countries. In the northern
hemisphere, it is observed in the spring; in the southern hemisphere, Earth Day is observed in the fall.
The purpose of Earth Day was to raise awareness of environmental issues, promote education about the
issue, and to advocate for a healthy and sustainable planet. Many schools have taken Earth Day a step
further to incorporate extended teaching of environmental issues and observe Earth Week.
To find events in your area, or to get ideas for helping you commemorate this special day, go to
www.earthdaynetwork.com. Get involved in helping in your community, whatever the needs may be. Every city has a park, street or stream that needs cleaning up, and it takes only a few volunteers to make a huge
difference. Take the time to learn about how you can help preserve this planet for future generations. They
will thank you for it!

Another thing to think about when you are hiring a business consultant is to ask them whether or not they
have written anything that deals with the issues that your company is facing.
Published works can be an invaluable tool to reference from time to time, when the contract with your
consultant is finished or even when they are still working for you.
If the consultant has indeed written something, be aware that the published work can be blunt and
difficult to read. But its a great way to get into the mind of a consultant and see the world of business
through their eyes.
Often times, consultants will say more in a published work than they might not say in person.
There is another advantage to turning to the published works of people who know business. They can be a
wealth of knowledge for those in business, and offer much information that wouldn’t be attainable any other
way.
For example, take someone like Donald Trump. Most people think of him as someone who knows his business. But you couldn’t very well call up Donald Trump and ask him for business advice. But he has written plenty of books that are available for anyone to purchase.
Don’t discount the use of books simply because you have a business consultant, because you will be may be giving up a great cache of information that you may very well find useful. It’s always a good idea to use
as many resources as possible.
